Year 1
Year 1 - Term 1
(Draft)
Week 1
Day 1
Reading
1. Do your reading lesson.
Bible
1. Read Genesis 1:26-31
2. Tell your mom about these verses. What part stood out to you the most?
3. If you have time, you can print page 2 and color it to put it in your Bible notebook.
Math
1. Practice your Math Facts using XtraMath.
2. Set the timer for 20 minutes.
3. Work in your Singapore Math Workbook until the time runs out.
Copywork
1. Get out your copywork binder and follow the schedule. Monday: Bible in Spanish, Tuesday: Literature, Thursday: Poetry, Friday: Quotes. Do your best and take your time. Set the timer for 10 minutes. If you are not done, that's ok. You will be able to complete it later.
Spanish
1. Do one lesson with Rosetta Stone. (Ask mom for help with this)
History
1. Get the book Our Island Story and turn to the story of Albion and Brutus. This book will be used for several years so do not be concerned that it is very big. We will work through it slowly. Listen to the introduction here.
2. Listen to this Librivox recording while you read the story of Albion and Brutus.
The next story is a "tale". Do you know what a tale is? It is story, true or not, that is told with a lot of imagination. When you read this next story, decide if you think it is true or not.
Literature Tales
1. Listen to this Librivox recording while you read How The Whale Got His Throat. We also have this book if you would rather follow along in the book.
History Tales
1. Read the Sword of Damocles.
2. Draw a picture about the story and then describe it to your mom. Try to give as much detail as you can. You are learning to narrate!
Our Family Implementing the Ambleside Online Curriculum
As my number of students increases, I find that I am not able to multiply myself to an acceptable level. This blog is for the personal use of my family as we implement a Charlotte Mason education using the very fine Ambleside Online curriculum. Really, this is simply an online schedule for my children to follow, but since this will be posted on the internet, here is my disclaimer. I'm not a professional blogger and don't want to be. All the hard work has been done by the AO Advisory.
We also have a different schedule than some as this year we are attending a weekly co-op which means we must complete our work in four days, and an occasional Saturday. I may also link to the allinonehomeschool.com website because the blog owner has also put in extraordinary effort to make a website that is free and easy to use. I don't see the need to reinvent the wheel.
Happy homeschooling everyone! I thank God there are so many smart wonderful people out there willing to share the fruits of their labor!!
